What do the apostles have to say about parenting? Almost everyone has heard “Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.” But is that all there is? What else might the apostles be able to teach us about parenting? There is so much that the apostles taught early Christians about parenting and it remains highly applicable today! The apostles’ teaching upended the cultural expectations for parenting in the Roman world and today it’s still upending our culture’s expectations. Join theologian and seminary professor Dr. David Erickson as he explores what Paul, Peter, James, and John can teach us about parenting today as followers of Jesus.

ABOUT THE TEACHER

Dr. David Erickson is passionate about helping people fall radically and deeply in love with God and His Word. He has pursued that calling for twenty-five years as a preacher and pastor. For the last twelve years, he’s been privileged to train future church leaders in the United States and many other countries around the world as a theology professor at a seminary.

David is committed to helping parents understand what God says about parenting and how parenting practices reflect a person’s underlying beliefs about God. He encourages parents to utilize parenting practices that show to their children the true nature of God.

David and his wife, Amanda, teach parents all over the world through their ministry, Flourishing Homes & Families. With practical parenting advice and regular theology of parenting discussions, they are working to equip and empower parents to live out in parenting the very real grace they’ve been given by Jesus.
